CoHaus is a community for people who are locked out of buying alone. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you use cohaus.life, why we collect it, and what we do — and never do — with it. This page is maintained by CoHaus and describes our current practices.

The short version

We collect only what we need to run the community and the pilot. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with third-party marketers, and we do not pass your details to lenders or brokers without you asking us to. Joining is free and does not involve a mortgage application or a credit check.

Who we are

CoHaus is the data controller for information collected through this site. You can reach us about anything in this policy at pilot@cohaus.tech.

What we collect

Account details. Your email address and a display name when you create an account, plus an optional avatar and profile details such as age range and general location.
Community content. Posts and replies you write in Discuss, along with the time they were created.
Discover inputs. The figures and answers you enter into the diagnostic and the co-buying calculator — for example income, savings and target area — so we can show your results and save your progress.
Decide applications. The answers you give in the pilot application, including your co-buyer preference and whether you would like a golden ticket for a future cohort.
Basic technical data. Standard log information and aggregated analytics (Google Analytics) that tell us which pages are used, without identifying you personally.

Why we use it

To create and secure your account; to show your own results back to you; to run and moderate the community; to assess and process pilot and cohort applications; to contact you about the pilot and your application; and to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.

Moderation

To keep the community safe, posts are automatically screened for abusive language, and flagged content can be reviewed by a small number of named CoHaus administrators. Moderation records are kept only for as long as needed to handle the issue.

Who can see your information

Your posts and display name are visible to other signed-in members. Your email address, Discover figures and application answers are not shown to other members. Access inside CoHaus is limited to administrators who need it to run the pilot.

We use trusted infrastructure providers to host the site, database and email (including our hosting and database platform and Google Analytics). They process data on our instructions only. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Keeping your data

We keep account and application data while your account is open and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our record-keeping obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and content at any time.

Security

Data is stored on managed, access-controlled infrastructure and transmitted over encrypted connections. Access to personal data is restricted by role-based permissions. No system is completely risk-free, so we do not claim our security is absolute — if we ever became aware of an incident affecting your data, we would tell you.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to certain uses, or ask us to restrict processing. Email pilot@cohaus.tech and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your Discover progress. We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate site usage. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

CoHaus is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, tell members directly.
